To begin the Four X block, gather together: All triangles cut from the 4 1/4" square. You will have a couple left over... don't toss them, they will be used in Chapter Four. You will make 28 of these blocks. Check often to be sure these blocks measure 3 1/2". ![]() Sew two triangles together, keeping your color placement the same. ![]() Sew two triangles together, keeping your color placement the same. ![]() Sew two triangles from Figure 1 and 2 together, keeping your color placement the same. Result: ![]() Next section- Snail's Trail To begin the Snail's Trail block, gather together: * one each 2" triangle of M1, M2, D1, D2 * one each 2 3/8" triangle of M1, M2, D1, D2 * one each 3" triangle of M1, M2, D1, D2 * one each 3 7/8" triangle of M1, M2, D1, D2 * one each 1 1/4" square of M1, M2, D1, D2. Very Important! Refer to completed color picture of the Snails Trail block for color placement! ![]() Sew the four 1 1/4" squares together Add 2" triangles. Carefully trim this square to 2 5/8" ![]() Add 2 3/8" triangles. Carefully trim this square to 3 1/2" ![]() Add 3" triangles. Carefully trim this square to 4 3/4" ![]() Add 3 7/8" triangles. Carefully trim this square to 6 1/2" ![]() Result: ![]()
