The Sutey Quilt Story from www.quiltzine.com

Pam SuteyIt is always much more interesting and fun to know a little about the maker of quilts we see. It helps us to understand the why, where, and how of a quilt and it is fascinating to learn quilters come from all types of backgrounds and skill levels. I love to study quilts made by people with extensive training in art, design, and textiles. I also enjoy beautiful quilts made by those who found their quilting skills through other avenues. We are all quilters and this diversity adds to the richness of the quilt world.

Let’s get the statistics out of the way first. My name is Pam Sutey. I’m married, 42, mother of two daughters, 11 and 9, and a son, 5. I am an Army Brat and an Army Wife. I’ve lived all over the US, Japan, and Germany.

My husband and I are University of Arizona graduates and claim Tucson as home.

My youngest child will be 6 in May and I took my first quilting classes while pregnant with him. At that time I had been teaching Jazzercise for 11 years. I don’t know why it happened but I traded in brightly colored spandex leotards for 100% cotton yardage and sweating, jumping and breathing hard for sitting at a sewing machine for hours.
