I Hate Spam Envelope Block from Quiltzine

I Hate Spam This block was inspired by the amazing amount of Spam email I receive. I don't want Spam, I want emails from people who want to talk to ME, the person, not the anonymous email addresses harvested by spambots trawling the web.

When I designed the quilt itself, I decided the quilting stencil needed to be simple, yet reflective of email.

I decided to use a quilting template from the EQ5 library.

I Hate Spam Quilt The wavy lines signify the data streams running through cyberspace across the internet - the "wuh-wuh-wuh" - I was pretty pleased with myself for coming up with that idea, but I'm willing to bet I am not the only one.

I drew the block myself. I would suggest that, instead of attempting to piece the "stamp", you applique it to the block. I think it would be pretty cool to use Bubble Jet Set to print an actual postage stamp on the block, or perhaps hand paint a stamp of your own.

I've thought of a lot of uses for this block design. Pockets on a dress for a child, or perhaps you could make it in paper for a scrapbooking project.

Don't have Electric Quilt? You can use the block right here!

Use your right mouse button to save the drawing of the block to your computer, then print it.

Enlarge the block to the size you want, then use template plastic to trace it.

Cut out the template pieces and draw them on the wrong side of your fabric with a light pencil.

Make sure you leave enough space around each piece for seam allowance!

You can then machine sew the pieces together, or you can hand stitch them, using the pencil lines to make sure your seams are all lined up right.
